Where are the Texas Longhorns Soccer Camps held?
The Advanced Residential Camps and Day Camps are held at Myers Soccer Stadium, UT's primary game field. A couple of sessions are also conducted near the main UT campus at the Whitaker Fields facility just off Guadelupe and 51st Street.
Who are the coaches at Texas Soccer Camp?
University of Texas head coach Chris Petrucelli and UT assistant coaches Matt Mott and Sarah Barnes oversee the Texas Longhorns Soccer Camps and are actively involved in the day-to-day training of the campers. In addition, the Texas Longhorns Soccer Camp is committed to bringing in some of the finest college and club coaches in the country. Campers and parents of campers are encouraged to click on the "Staff" link periodically to see which coaches have signed-on for this Summer's camps.
How do I get in touch with my child at overnight camp? Can I leave a message for my child while he/she is at camp?
You can leave a message for your camper on the camp office phone which is 512-471-3624. For after hour calls there will be a 24 hour number provided at check in.
Will my child need bed linens and toiletries?
Yes! All campers will need a pillow and bed linens for a twin bed. Linens can be rented from the Dobie Center for $20. You can do this at the front desk of the dorm when you move in. You will also need to send toiletries and towels with your camper.
Will my child be supervised in the dorm?
Yes! Every camper will be assigned to a counselor. The Texas Soccer Camp staff (including administrators, coaches, and counselors) will be housed in the Dorm. The dorm also has its own security staff. Everyone must show identification (or camp wristbands) when entering the building. Note that campers are separated by gender. Non-staff adults will NOT be allowed on floors outside of check-in and check-out.
What about roommate requests?
The camp welcomes roommate requests and will attempt to accommodate the requests, but does not guarantee them. Roommate requests must correspond to each other. Rooming assignments are done one week prior to the start of a session. It is recommended that roommates send in their applications at the same time. Don’t wait too long though, as your session may close.
Is there a penalty for a lost room key during camp?
There is a $50 fee for a lost room key.
How much spending money should I send with my camper?
The only money that campers will need is for snacks. We recommend campers bring no more than $25-30. Although meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are covered through registration fees, most campers want a snack after the evening session. Note that there will not be a camp bank. Campers will be responsible for their own money.
Will there be a camp store?
No! Unfortunately, the University of Texas does not permit camp stores. If you would like to purchase merchandise you must do so online prior to arrival at camp. No merchandise will be available for purchase at check-in!
Will the rooms have refrigerators?
Yes! Campers may bring snacks and beverages for the week.
How many campers will there be in each dorm room?
Most rooms are designed for two campers. A limited number of four-person suites are available and are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. If your camper is attending as part of an odd-numbered group, we will do our best to allow them to stay together, although there are no guarantees.
Will my child be matched with his/her roommate preference?
We will do everything possible to accommodate roommate preferences. Please make sure that your camper and his/her preferred roommate have written each other down on their respective registration forms.
How will the campers get from the dorm to the field?
Campers will take a short 5 to 10-minute walk from the dorm to Myers Stadium for all but a few soccer-related activities. Note that counselors and coaches walk with the campers to the field. During the couple of sessions in which the campers train at the Whitaker Fields, the campers are transported via buses.
What is the ground transportation that is mentioned in the brochure?
Some campers will need to be picked up and/or dropped off at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport. The fee for this service is $25 one way and $35 round trip. Please contact us if your child requires this pick-up/drop-off service.
What are the refund procedures?
There are no refunds after the first day of camp. There is a 10 percent cancellation fee prior to the first day of camp.
Can I pay a deposit to hold my camper's spot?
Yes! An initial deposit of $150 will hold your camper's spot. From there you can make payments whenever you would like. However, full payment must be received 30 days prior to the camp start date. Otherwise, there is a late charge of $25.
Do I really need a physician's signature on these forms?
Yes! The forms do require a physician's signature. If your camper has had a physical in the last 12 months from the actual camp dates, most physicians will just sign off on the form, and you won't have to make another appointment. If we do not have your camper's medical forms on file, your camper will not be allowed to participate in camp activities. This is a University of Texas mandate, not simply a camp rule.
